HIGG

The Higg Index is a tool for measuring social and environmental impacts, from materials to labor conditions and recyclability, developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition for the textile, clothing, and footwear sectors.

OEKOTEX

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is an internationally recognized independent control and certification system for textile raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products at all stages of processing, as well as for the accessory materials used.

REACH

REACH is a European Union regulation that aims to contribute to improving the protection of human health and the environment against chemical risks.

 

All products certified under the “STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®” are REACH compliant.

 

The European Chemicals Agency ECHA maintains a list of substances of concern (Candidate List). If new substances that are not yet included in the OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog as independent testing parameters become relevant to the textile industry, their inclusion in the OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog would be assessed.

SCS

Supply Chain Security is an audit conducted by Walmart to ensure that the production and supply chain is protected against any risks, particularly terrorism.

ZDHC

ZDHC stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals and is a program created by some of the world’s top brands. It focuses on transparency and management of chemicals according to an integrated approach of prevention and precaution. The aim is to eliminate or replace hazardous chemicals.

GRS

The Global Recycle Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important international non-profit organizations for responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. 

 

The standard recognizes the importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of promoting the reduction of resource consumption (virgin raw materials, water, and energy) and increasing the quality of recycled products.

SMETA

The Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) protocol is the standard for being included in the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex).

 

Sedex is a global organization that promotes the improvement of ethical and responsible business practices along the supply chain. 

 

SMETA provides a standard audit and an audit report that includes the following themes. SMETA 2-pillar audit:

  • labor standards
  • health and safety

Additional elements include:

  • basic environmental assessment
  • management system
  • subcontracting and home working

BSCI

The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) of Amfori is a global reference for monitoring and improving social responsibility performance in the supply chain.

 

The market evaluates organizations according to the level of social responsibility they can demonstrate within their company and throughout their supply chain. A BSCI audit helps suppliers of large groups associated with Amfori to demonstrate their level of social compliance.
